Our Public Lands

From the redwood forest to the Gulf Stream waters, America is a beautiful country. Since Teddy Roosevelt, 15 presidents have protected some of our most special places as national monuments. We’re doing all we can to protect and preserve these places.

Our Oceans

Our country is blessed with sandy beaches, rocky coves, towering sea cliffs and an astonishing variety of ocean wildlife along our shores. Yet there are challenges. The previous administration pushed for oil and gas drilling in 90 percent of our coastal waters. Species from the right whale in the Atlantic to the southern resident orca in the pacific are staring at extinction. And too little of our ocean is protected. We’re doing all we can to protect our oceans and the wildlife that lives in them.

Organize

Jamie Lockwood started on staff on our Conservation America campaign team and immediately began working to save the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). Unless you read the small print on park signs, you might not realize that LWCF has funded a lot of the places that so many of us cherish across the country: parks, trails, national monuments — even local ball fields.

No Bees, No Food

Millions of bees are dying off, with alarming consequences for our environment and our food supply. We rely on bees to pollinate everything from almonds to strawberries to the alfalfa used to feed dairy cows. What happens if the bees disappear? It’s simple: No bees, no food.

New Life for the Ocean

More Nature

Every minute, America is losing two football fields worth of forest, meadow, grassland, desert, beachfront, riverside or wetland. Today, just 13 percent of oceans worldwide can be classified as "wilderness" relatively unaffected by human activity.

This continuous loss of nature diminishes not only the richness of our natural world, but also of our own lives and that of our children’s future.
